Proof-of-concept viruses are not very popular, yet four new ones have been released recently. They are all designed to infect scripting languages. The first virus called MEL.Odorous infects files and runs as host. The second is WHS.Vred virus for WinHex. It simply infects the files, but does not run itself as a host. The third and the fourth are W32.Piffle and W32.Weakling. Both viruses work by searching for uninfected files and replacing it with program information files (PIF). All these newly created viruses are not dangerous to the users; it’s simply a new activity for hackers.
